I have long hair. I tend to grow it out and then cut it short to donate to Locks of Love. I'm getting ready to cut it again, and like every time before there are always some people that are upset that I'm cutting it off.

So guys, I'm asking you, what do you like better on girls, long or short??? why???

The basic answer is; I prefer long hair on younger women (around 35 and younger) and shorter hair on older women (around 45 and older) but never real short hair.

This is just a preference and not written in stone. There is nothing wrong with older women with long hair or younger women with shorter hair or bald for that matter. The real beauty of a women is on the inside. She must feel good about herself and be aware of her husband's feelings.

Some women have no choice because of medical reasons (kemo and such). Others choose to sacrifice their hair for worthy projects like "locks of love". My youngest daughter (21) does this.

The bottom line is: Keep your hair clean and combed. Keep your actions and speach pure and honorable. Then your inned beauty will shine forth and all will see. Other looks can fade or change but inner beauty shines forth regardless of time...

Hair Style of your Face
The right way, say stylists, is to find what works with the structure of the face and looks flattering. A flattering hairstyle can be the most important single factor in your appearance. Not only does it tell about your character, it balances your body, frames your face and complements your clothes and lifestyle. A really professional haircut is a valuable investment, because it will make you feel good as well as look good.

When choosing a new hairstyle you should look carefully at the shape of your face.

Oval Face :

If you have an oval face, you are lucky, as any style will suit you. A long face is best complemented by short hair that is quite full, with a fringe. Don't go for a severe long hairdo that will only make your face look longer.

Round Face :

If you have a round face, you should aim to add length. If you don't want long hair, part your hair on the side or add fullness on top. Avoid a neat bob with a fringe. A round face gives an overall appearance of roundness. A full face is flattered by a short, layered cut. The top of the head should be given a ‘long’ look with a layered, curly style, extending to the back. If making a topknot, get a lot of elongated tendrils out. That balances your face. A lot of volume to the hair will give it a flat look. A severe, tied back style also makes the face look rounder. Avoid it.

Square Face :

A wide forehead and square jawbone means you have a square face. A style with the hair 2.5 cm, or so below the chin sits pretty on a square face. If your hair is thick or wavy, you can go all one length. With straight or fine hair, you can opt for a slight angle in the front. Donut go in for bobs. Blunt clipped bangs are also not recommended because they would emphasize the square ness of your face. All a square face needs is a little softening if the jaw line is too heavy. Draw the attention away from the jaw with a diagonal fringe forward from the hairline and around the ears if you wear your hair up, or long loose hair with a bit of bounce below chin level.

Heart Shape :

A Heart shaped face is also easy to flatter. All you need to do is avoid a heavy slab of fringe that will make your face into a triangle. A softer fringe will help. Try a soft fringe too for a high forehead, or try a very heavy fringe that stars quite a way back is 'V' - shaped, with the point of the 'V' in the center of your forehead. If you have a receding or double chin, you need to draw attention away from it. Your hair will look best either piled to the top and back of your head, to balance the chin, or hanging loose to hide it. A large nose needs a short, fluffy style anything sleek or straight will only over-emphasize it.

Long Face :

A long, thin face with a narrow chin is oblong. A short, perky bob will go very nicely with your kind of looks. It should be short at the back and the angled chin length, in the front. Wearing it with a side parting, with bangs brushed to the side, rounds out an oblong face. A longer bob, about five-cm, below the chin, will also look good on this kind of face. Layered hair will not suit you at all. Long hair, too, makes the face seems lengthier.

More about Long hair

Are you trying to find a way to achieve a long hair style but your hair is short? If so, hair extensions are an excellent way to go from short to long hair and then back again. People like Paris Hilton prove that hair extensions can dramatically change your appearance. She is just one of many people that openly wear hair extensions, having fun with her appearance. If you have short hair that is soft and fun but want a more elegant and chic look from time to time, then consider hair extensions as a solution to long hair styles.

The great thing about hair extensions is the way in which they are made has advanced over the years, along with the materials used. You can purchase synthetic hair for this long hair style but more and more, real hair is the best choice and affordable. Additionally, you have a number of options when it comes to hair extensions. For instance, you can have them blended in with your natural hair color, mixed to create the look of highlighting, or colored for something sassy.

With hair extensions, you will notice immediate thickness, making this a great choice for long hair styles. Additionally, hair extensions offer volume for people with fine or limp hair. Another huge advantage of wearing hair extensions is that if you should experience a bad haircut, you can hide the cut while it grows out. Now remember that this type of long hair style does not have to be waist length. In fact, you can choose all different lengths, based on your personal preference. If you decide to try hair extensions for your own hair, then you would simply care for them like your own hair but with a few differences:

* You want to always use a soft bristle brush.
* Brush your hair, starting from the bottom, working your way up slowly and gently.
* When sleeping, you want to use some type of soft band or wrap to tie your hair up.
* If you want your hair extensions a different color, you should have a professional do this, as this is not something to do on your own at home.
* Never spray hair extensions with silicone-based products or conditioners, which could cause the braids to slip and the extensions to fall out.
* To avoid problems with tangling, you can simply run your fingers through the extensions.

Again, the length of the extensions is up to you although typically, they range anywhere from 26 to 30 inches. If you go longer, the extensions become too heavy, pulling on your hair by the scalp and causing damage. Remember that the goal with this type of long hair style is to have the extensions look like your own hair. Therefore, extensions of 22 inches or less are generally the best looking.

The price of hair extensions varies depending on where you live, the type of extensions you choose, the length, and the professional doing the work. However, on average you could expect to pay several hundred dollars. Now if you go with the top of the line hair extensions, then you could be spending into the thousands of dollars but to have good results, this is not necessary.

Just as you would with your regular hair, with this type of long hair style, you can wear your hair up or down, whichever you prefer. The goal is to have the extensions attached lower than your scalp's base so that whether in a ponytail, French braid, or other hairstyle, the extensions will not show.

If you have any concern about hair extensions hurting, you can rest assured they do not. These long hair styles will need to be braided in firmly so they hold but even so, this does not cause pain. Generally, you will feel a slight tension all over your head but that is all. If you feel anything more, then you should talk to the professional to see if there is a problem. In most cases, after wearing the hair extensions for two to three days, you will know if they feel right or not.

If the hair extensions are added to your hair properly, they will not cause any damage. However, if applied incorrectly, they can pull hair out, or stretch it. For this reason, while you might be tempted to go to someone with a little experience, as a way of saving money, you would be doing yourself a huge favor by spending the money to have the hair extensions done the right way! Once the extensions are in, you will be amazed at how great this long hair style looks and feels.
